THE BIG RETREAT!
I’m so excited about our retreat coming up. Why, you might ask? Well, first of all it’s an opportunity to come together in fellowship, coming together for a common cause , anticipating God’s presence and encouraging each other to keep the first things first.
Our purpose this year is to help us discover and enjoy more of the JOY that comes from knowing Jesus.
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who are called according to His purpose.” What a wonderful verse! No matter what we face God is going to work it all out for our good. There is JOY in that, don’t you think?
Whether we come together as a family of believers to eat, learn or enjoy the gifts and talents of others we know that God is with us. He promised in Matthew 18:19 that where two or more are gathered in His name, He would be there with them. Wow, Jesus in our midst! There is
JOY in that also!
One reason for a retreat is to help us focus. This year’s retreat is designed to help us to focus on Jesus and the
JOY that comes from being His child. Of all the things in this world that buy for our time and attention, we need to kept he first things first. I’m probably the worst at that, but I’m trying. To think about Jesus, His love for us, His provision for us and His eternal home He has prepared for us is keeping the first things first.
May those who come to this retreat have the JOYof the Lord expanded in to every area of their lives and may it flow over into the lives of others as well. I’m looking forward to sharing the JOYGod has given me with you on this special weekend.
His Servant,
Dan Wenning
