Elder Encouragement
Previous letter
I had been pondering about this article. What should I write on? What words of wisdom should I give? Why had I agreed to do this??? Get the picture. Then I was telling my son-in-law, Travis, that I had to do something for the newsletter and he asked “You have to do the whole newsletter or just the elder’s Encouragement?” I replied “No, just the Elder’s Encouragement”. Then it hit me!!! I had to encourage someone!! How do I
encourage someone? As some of you read this, maybe you are like Chris Owens,
“Murphy is going to have words of wisdom for me?” Then I had a sense of relief. It is not my words or thoughts of earthly wisdom. It is the Lord’s wisdom that I need to share with my brothers and sisters.
At one time or another, I think we all have been discouraged. How do we get
discouraged? Where does it come from? I believe that when we focus on man and his thinking, we see no hope. It might give us pleasure for a moment but it is not lasting. There is always an end to man’s hope.
Now, let’s talk about encouragement.
(Ok, Chris?) It comes from God, not Dwain
Murphy. We find encouragement is His Word, in His Son, and through the Holy Spirit that is alive within us. The hope we find in these three is everlasting. There will never be an end to this kind of wisdom. It will never fail us.
So, How I am going to encourage you, by
reminding you and myself, to put our hope in Jesus, the true and only living Son of God
Almighty.
I Timothy 4:9-10 This is a trustworthy
statement that deserves full acceptance and for this we labor and strive, that we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, and especially of those who
believe.
The Lord’s Servant,
Dwain Murphy
