Shhhhh! Turn off that cell phone!
Shhhhhh!
Turn off your cell phones.
No talking.
Don’t interrupt.
We have all heard these words from the time we were kids. Maybe it was teachers,
parents, librarians, yes; even spouses,
but we have all
heard these sayings.
Why were we told to be quiet?
Was it out of respect?
Was it because we were not focused?
Was it because we were too loud?
Or did we need to learn something?
Do you think God has ever told us to be quiet? Why would He do this? Does He want us to recognize our surroundings, creation, other saints, or could it be His deity? In Psalms 46: 10, God tells us “to be still and know that I am God”. Let’s get real. We all know who God is, so what was His purpose?
What does “be still” mean? When we enter God’s presence, we should be filled with a great sense of awe, respect and wonder. This is more than just being quiet. this is the God of creation that desires to communicate with us. Can our intelligence compare to even the
intelligence in his little finger? I don’t think so.
We are always in a hurry to share our opinion.
I challenge you and me to be still.
GOD IS SPEAKING!
